Copa Attilio Bettega 2024
17 - 18 February 2024, Bassano del Grappa, ItalyA return to the past, to the glorious times of counter-steers and crosses, on the roads that witnessed the competition of the strongest World Rally drivers in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.
The ninth edition of the Attilio Bettega Cup also partly follows the classic rally routes of that era, from Liege-Sofia-Liege to San Martino di Castrozza and Prealpi Venete. Challenging routes that demand skill with the steering wheel, sensitivity with the accelerator, and radar dexterity. Qualities that allowed drivers like Munari, Kallstrom, Pinto, and Darniche to achieve prestigious successes, and champions like Rohrl and Andruet to demonstrate their full worth.
Over 360 kilometers, designed by the Rally Club 70, spanning the provinces of Vicenza, Trento, and Belluno, competitors will navigate the tight curves of the Valenevera stage, Passo Brocon, the obstacles of Arina and Celado, and the dangers of "Morello" (Gigno) and the Brocon pass.
A menu for connoisseurs with a refined palate, and it doesn't matter that the Bettega Cup is not a rally but a medium regularity race. The challenges will be numerous, accompanying the teams for eleven hours, testing their driving skills and the robustness of their vehicles, with snow adding an extra layer of fascination to the Coppa Bettega.
Much is already in Col Perer and will remain there for a long time, considering that snowplows will only come into action two days before the start, as the road is closed to vehicle traffic during the winter period. In the Arsiè square, mechanics can change the competitors' tires, enlivening a unique assistance park that fans won't want to miss.
The race is divided into two parts, with a 50-minute reshuffling and a single stage. The first part will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, at the entrance of the famous Ponte degli Alpini in Bassano and will finish in Pieve Tesino after 5 average tests and a refreshment point, allowing drivers and navigators the chance to cool down and recover from fatigue. Checkered flag in the middle of the night after five average tests in Valstagna.
The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 18, at 10:30 a.m. in the conference room of the Glamour Hotel in Bassano del Grappa, and it will be a special moment due to the presence of Alessandro Bettega (son of Attilio) and the well-known rally champion, as well as the president of Aci Vicenza, Luigi Battistolli, also known as “Lucky”.
